Member spotlight: Maya's first pain-free run in 2 years
By Shirly Rosenfeld · June 2, 2026
I asked Maya if I could share this and she said yes. 💚
When we first started working together, Maya was still experiencing pain in the front of her hip almost every time she ran.
In the beginning, we weren’t looking for a quick fix, and we didn’t try to ignore the pain. The goal was to learn how to listen to her body, adjust the load, and keep progressing gradually.
Whenever the pain appeared during a run, Maya adapted her activity. Sometimes she switched to walking, sometimes she reduced her training frequency, and sometimes she simply gave her body more time to recover. Over time, the pain became less frequent, and her ability to handle the demands of running improved.
At the same time, she consistently followed a simple exercise program:
2 sets of 15 squats. Calf raises on each side. Core strengthening: straight and diagonal abdominal exercises. Stability and control exercises, including bird-dog movements and similar exercises in prone position.
Slowly and consistently, her body became stronger, her confidence in movement returned, and the distance between pain and the activities she loved became smaller.
Maya’s story is a reminder that real progress is built through small steps: adjusting the load, staying patient, and showing up consistently along the way. 🌿
